Review: Torn by Erica O'Rourke

Torn (Torn Trilogy, #1)
What is this purple wrap thingy? SIGH.
Torn by Erica O'Rourke, the first in a trilogy, was available for instant download one night from my library. And usually I end up with a boatload of crazy with such impulse reads. This book absolutely continues the trend and brings the cray-cray, but in a surprisingly readable package.

Everyone has secrets. Even best friends.

Mo Fitzgerald knows about secrets. But when she witnesses her best friend's murder, she discovers Verity was hiding things she never could have guessed. To find the answers she needs and the vengeance she craves, Mo—quiet, ordinary, unmagical Mo—will have to enter a world of raw magic and shifting alliances. And she'll have to choose between two very different, equally dangerous guys—protective, duty-bound Colin and brash, mysterious Luc. One wants to save her, one wants to claim her. Which would you choose? (GoodReads).

Originality 9: Magic and the mob! What more could a girl ask for.
Absurdity 9: let me repeat- magic and the Chicago mob.
Level of Paranormal Romance: 7 Hullo, handsome. I am on board with either heartthrob: sexy cosmopolitan southerner wielding magic versus brooding Irish body guard living in a fabulously appointed modern loft. This is a tough battle. Finally, a love triangle I am tots ok with.
Level of Harry-Potter-ness: 4. Nothing special but I still want to know more! A good fluffy read.
